I AM ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR COLLECTIONS OR SINGLE PIECES! IF YOU WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR COLLECTION, OR SINGLE PIECES, THIS IS WHERE TO GO! I OFFER A VERY FAIR 70 - 80% OF YOUR ARTIFACT VALUES!
Hello fellow collectors, My name is Paul Frey, and I have been involved with the Indian artifact hobby for over 55 years! I handle mostly Pa. and north east artifacts, but will offer anything that's authentic and of interest. I have a 10 day any reason return, with a GUARANTEE of AUTHENTICITY. More time if requested, but after that, the artifact may be returned if deemed not authentic. Every artifact I sell is first examined for correct typological criteria, then microscopically examined for patination and weathering details. In my opinion, I believe the first two priorities an artifact must have, are authenticity, and verifiable provenance. Click on the photos to enlarge them. EXCLUSION: I do my best to describe each artifact as best as I can, noting field dings, breaks, glue residue, etc., however, I may miss one or two in larger lots. I do guarantee the authenticity however. In most cases, if you feel the need to return only one or two artifacts from a lot, I prefer to have the entire lot returned for a complete refund, rather than just a few pieces. On large field grade lots, it's easy to miss a few dings, but this can normally be seen in the photos. Please look at the photos carefully, and ask any questions prior to buying if your not sure, or you need a better description.
I also offer consignment sales of your artifacts, entire collections, or single pieces. Please contact me for details and rates. I offer collection appraisals and authentication of Pa. and north east artifacts. Email me for information, or any questions and concerns. And the only fair way to sell artifacts, is first come-first serve. If two people want the same piece, the first email or contact get's it.
I accept paypal, checks, M.O., cash, BUT, please note that I do not have checkout from the store. PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR INFORMATION ON ANY ARTIFACT YOUR INTERESTED IN, AND PAYMENT INFORMATION. [email protected]. I consider REASONABLE offers on anything your interested in ! Thanks for looking!!
PLEASE NOTE: Unless prior arrangements are made, if payment isn't received within 7 days, I reserve the right to relist and sell any artifact.
I leave the shipping up to the buyer. Shipping rates are always increasing. I normally use First Class. Depending on weight, most items can be shipped First Class with a Tracking Number for between $4.50 - $6.00. If the buyer wants Priority, I use small flat rate at $7.90, or the current postal rates.

Please keep in mind, if you like the artifact from a photo, you will LOVE it when you hold it! The artifacts are ALWAYS much better in person vs. a photograph. And I am not the best photographer in the world.
GALLERY VIEW OF PENNSYLVANIA ARTIFACTS. Pa. isn't known to have a large quantity of pristine artifacts, mostly because we have a limited resource of the better cherts and flints. Jasper is the best, and most sought after, lithic material from Pa., and the occasional Flintridge or Ohio cherts that travelled into Pa. However, in years past, quality artifacts have been found when artifact hunting was in it's prime. This period was mostly in the early 1900s. Quality artifacts are hidden away in collections that are still in storage, and occasionally become available to the collector. Pa. was the home to prehistoric Native Americans from the Paleo Indian period ( ca. 12,000 BC ), to the Historic Period ( ca. 1770 ). Here are a few artifacts from my collection, and most of these were found prior to 1950, with the exception of my personal finds between 1962-1990. Represented are a selection of pottery vessels, jasper points, Perkiomen points, spears/knives, bannerstones, a complete soapstone vessel ( Md. ), gouges, Clovis points, and pipes. The photo of the single pipe is called the " John Koch pipe", with his original drawing when he found it. And a photo of one the nicest maskettes ever found. It's Clinton Co. pipestone with three fish incised on the back, and tallied around the entire edge. From Great Island, Clinton Co., Pa. The antler figurine is known as a " Sept. Morn Figure ", and is one of the finest ever recovered from N.Y. And a frame of Susquehannock trade beads and items from mostly Pa., and N.Y. That's my daughter, Marie. She has her own little " Indian Rocks " shelf in her room! My other daughter, Amanda, isn't a big rock collector. I'm sorry, but the gallery artifacts are for viewing, but will be for sale in the future. I'm not quite old enough to quit collecting, but soon!!!
POSTAGE NOTES: I try every chance I can to offer free shipping. I can not continue to do this. The post office has once again raised the rates, starting next week, Jan. 10th. I normally ship several ways. Bubble wrap envelope, considered a parcel, and shipping is determined by weight and destination. Or, small-medium-large priority flat rate. The postage increases are: Small flat rate: $9.45....Med. flat rate: $16.10....Large flat rate: $ 21.50 What I will do to alleviate some of this, because I want my buyers to continue buying, is a variable shipping cost.
All bubble wrap parcels: Buyer pays full shipping ( normally $4.75-$6.00). On all flat rates, the following:
From $1.00-$500.00-Buyer pays full shipping. $500.00-$1000.00-Buyer pays 50% of shipping.
From $1001.00 or more-Buyer gets free shipping. Thank You! Please address any complaints to the Post Office, and you should!!

SOLD.........PF 61---Two Perkiomens
Here's one from the Space farm, Sussex Co., NJ, and found by Ralph Space. Onondaga chert, 1 3/4".
And the other is red, heat treated jasper, 1 1/2", Upper Dauphin Co., Pa. This was no doubt a lance point, and was embedded in something after being thrown. The tip exhibits flea bite burin nicks caused by twisting the point after impact to pull it free from what ever, bone, wood, the neighbor, etc.
$75.00 for both Free shipping!!

LOT'S PF62 thru PF69 were all found around Lake Ontelaunee, Berks Co., Pa. When the water is low and the shoreline is exposed, artifacts have eroded out of the adjoining land area. SOLD.......PF 72.... Nice lot of misc. hardstone
This stuff is pretty unique! The larger drilled item ( 2 3/4") is either a drilled bola stone, or a drilled net weight. The smaller one the same, probably drilled net weight, or pendant. Marked Missouri. A small mini celt.
And two bar stones. Back in the old days they called these fish stones. They were notched and used as weights.
The gray slate bar is incised "1883", right before I started collecting!! Both are labeled Fish Stones! They are cut and smoothed, so they are something. Probably bar net weights!!

GD 5-----RARE drilled honestone
These are usually only found in Pa. and the northeast. It's a honestone for sharpening axe bits, slate artifacts, etc. Drilled to wear on the belt or around the neck. One side of these usually shows extreme polish vs. the other side. The extra polished side is from contact and rubbing on clothing or even skin if worn around the neck. Full of scratches and shallow sharpening grooves. North central Pa.
When I first saw this it looked familiar. Could be ex. Dick Savidge. Maybe I'll but this if it sits to long!! Rare to find these complete with the offset hole at the edge.

PK 39---2 strands white glass trade beads
These are all small seed beads. All found from the Kinzua dam area on the Upper Alleghany River, during construction of the dam. This was the home territory of the Seneca Indians led by Chief Cornplanter. Over 700 Senecas were removed to new lands and housing. The beads are from earlier Seneca sites, dating between 1650-1700. When an earlier village site was encountered, the Harrisburg museum, under the direction of Ira Smith, ( Pa. state archaeologist at the the time ) conducted salvage excavations in the early 1960s.
Two strands, approx. 34", all white, and oxidized due to ground contact..approx. 500-510 beads. Price includes both strands. These would date ca, 1625-1650.
$225.00
NOTE: These sites are all flooded by the Kinzua Dam, and I'm not aware of anymore beads, or artifacts being found. Many of the sites were Hopewell-Adena mounds, and contained some very unique artifacts.

SOLD......PK 46---Unique knife form
I think the closest I can type this would be an Appalachian blade worked into a bifacial knife. Or intentionally made this way from the beginning. Most scrapers made from broken points are uniface and beveled. This piece is bifacially flaked with an edge, and under a scope, the edge shows the distinct use wear from cutting. The material is silicified shale. Highly patinated and a nice piece!!!
3" L. x 2 1/4"W. Northumberland Co., Pa., ex. Harold Dunston.

Three are spiral coiled beads made from brass wire. All the beads on this strand are rare and hard to find anywhere!! These are probably not necklace type beads, but decorative, sewn onto clothing, or articles of cloth and leather.
I did some research looking for the Sealy Site, and found out it's actually located at Iroquois Park, Brant Co. Can. This was an early Iroquois site, inhabited by the Neutral Iroquois Confederacy until 1672. There won't be any more beads or artifacts coming from this site!!

TB 314 - Two original oils by Timothy Barr
Intro: Timothy Barr is a Pennsylvania painter who paints local outdoor scenes, plus a variety of other subjects. He is known for his paintings to be so detailed and precise, with the subject matter focusing on thought provoked images. The paintings are so realistic, but with room to entice a persons perception. Extremely well detailed. Many of his paintings may be see on his site, just search for Timothy Barr paintings. Normally sold through his galleries, these two have been commissioned to me to sell. Both are ORIGINAL oils, not prints. These are two of his first Indian paintings, never seen before, and limited to just these 2. Surely an investment if you love wonderful artwork!
I met Tim through his other passion, collecting Indian artifacts. He has a nice collection which he personally found in Schuylkill Co., Pa. Very easy going, calm nice guy, with an eye for detail and lots of patience! All of his paintings portray his incredible talent in painting scenes which reflect accuracy, and excellent color combinations! Tim is sure to be one of the finest painters to come from Pa. !!
These are the first two Indian related oil paintings that Tim painted. He has painted over 700 original paintings in the last 30 years. Being originals, these are should to increase in value, but the artistic element is absolutely incredible for value in itself!!
These will come framed, and I must ask for Price on request to serious buyers please!!

TB 314/1 - Called, " 12,000 B.C. or " Fire in the Sky "... This depicts a Paleo Indian hunter heading back to his campsite from a long days hunt, in the early evening hours. Looking up, he catches a glimpse of the meteor or comet that will fall to earth, creating such an explosion, that caused the end and turning point between the Paleo Indians and eventually later Natives. This was the event that led to enough climate change to create the Younger-Dryas event, creating an extinction that wiped out the Clovis people, and all fauna and flora. This scene has no doubt been witnessed by the Paleo Indians, and it had to be scary and mysterious. What was he thinking in that moment!! This would be very similar to the Tunguska event over Siberia in 1908. I will let the the buyer and other viewers imagine what they see in this remarkable detailed painting. Size is 12" x 24".
TB 2 - " Halley's Comet - 1701"....... This scene depicts the last of the Native Americans, Delaware Indian, in the year 1781. He looks up from his skin and birchbark canoe to witness what he never saw before. A streak of fire scorching through the evening sky. The Native is wearing a detailed shoulder garment made from traded white mans cloth. The Milky Way is prominent in the center of the star lit sky. This is all reflected on the surface of the Delaware River, or maybe the Susquehanna River in Pa. Halley's comet was last seen in 2006, and returns every 75 - 76 years. 75 years after the dated scene of this painting, Halley's comet was identified for what it is. A huge conglomerate of ice, rocks, and gas. But in 1701, it must have been mysterious and part of the spiritual unknown. So much so that petroglyphs were carved by the Natives who witnessed this event into the rivers boulders, depicting a Thunder Fire Bird in the sky! An extremely detailed oil painting, and a wonderful, but with some imagination, an event that just must have left this Native in awe! Size is 12" x 24".
Both of these paintings will be framed, and shipped with insurance. These are the only two of their kind to ever be offered in originals. Sure to be an investment in the near future!

TB 315 - Visions in Stone. By Timothy Barr
This is a print of the original oil painting of historic Indians, those who inhabited the lower Susquehanna River in the 17th and 18th. century. This painting for viewing is owned and displayed with the Susquehanna paintings at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage at the Susquehanna Heritage Museum, 1706 Long Level Road, Wrightsville, Pa. 17368. Possibly Susquehannock or Shawnee Indian. The painting depicts two Indians who see an odd shape in the in the sky, and are pecking these shapes into boulders, and these petroglyphs are still visible today in the lower Susquehanna River. The shapes are actually a murmuration ( formation ) of hundreds of starlings. The reflections are incredible, and the water appears real enough to touch!! Masterfully detailed, and very accurate to what they were doing over 300 years ago! Just simply an excellent, true to life, detailed print!
I'm offering prints of this original. They will be limited edition to only 60 prints, each one signed and numbered. There's two sizes to choose from: 12 x 30, and 16 x 40. The prints are on canvas, but won't be framed. They are shipped rolled in a cardboard mailing tube. Shipping is included in the price. An excellent idea for a gift to hang next to those frames of artifacts!!!! I'm buying one for myself ! I've seen the original, and it's a type of painting with the subject matter that you just keep looking at!
12 x 30------ $225.00
16 x 40------ $275.00

TB 316 - " The Reed Gatherer " By Timothy Barr
This will be the last one offered in this series, for now. The prints of this original oil by Tim Barr portrays a Historic Indian, Shawnee?, gathering reeds from the Susquehanna River. Gathering reeds was a very important part of the Indians way of life. Used for arrow shafts, canoes, matting, etc. This print of the original painting is of a foggy morning, with the Indian in a tanned, hide covered, birchbark canoe. Excellent detail portraying the hard life style of the Indians in the 18th. century. This is an early morning scene with the mist of the fog just rising off the river!
These four Indian related originals, and prints, are the only four painted by Tim. Never before offered in prints. The original has already been sold and is proudly displayed. One size only for this print, which is a very generous 27 x 30. Again, limited prints to only 60, signed and numbered. I have seen these in person, and trust my judgement, these are absolutely the best paintings I have ever seen. So much attention has been given to details, and a wonderful blending of color.!! You won't be disappointed!! These are all true investment prints!
